Amo (RCC) Finishes Fifth at NCAA Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Augustana wrestling team's season came to an end on Saturday with Michael Lowman taking fourth at 285 pounds and Aero Amo finishing fifth at 184 pounds at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Michael Lowman capped off his Viking career with a fourth-place finish and his first career All-American honor. Lowman finished his season with a record of 29-11 and 11 pins, good for second on the team, and concluded his career with a record of 112-47.

Lowman opened the day but dropping his semifinal match to Garrett Gray of Tiffin. In the consolation semifinals, Lowman rebounded with a pin in the first period against Nick Budd of Gannon. Lowman fell to Austin Goergen of St. Cloud State in the third-place match.

Aero Amo finished off his junior season with his first All-American honor in his second Nationals appearance. Amo finished in fifth and ended the season with a record of 38-9 and a team-high 15 falls and eight tech falls.

Amo fell by decision in the semifinals and the consolation semifinals to move into the fifth-place match. Amo won the fifth-place match by virtue of medical forfeit.
Amo and Lowman became the first pair of Viking All-Americans since 2014-15 when Jayd Docken and TJ North earned that distinction.
