    Season Preview

Coach DeBoer gave SDSB the following season preview information:

What is your team outlook for 2011-2012?

The Lady Raiders will have great point guard play and great post play.  We have the ability to have a very good team if we can improve on our shooting, and find some role players to step up this season.  We have five seniors, four juniors, and a number of under classman that could make an impact on the season.  WE will need to commit to great team defense which will be a strength of ours this season.  We are athletic, quick, but not real big.

Which of your players do you expect to have the most "impact" this year?

Without question our top two players are Margaret McCloud and Katie Klapprodt.  Katie is a one woman press break with great court vision, and Margaret will become the first 1000 point scorer in Stevens High School history this season.  She is 146 points short.  She had 436 last season.

Which teams will be your toughest competition?

I believe the top AA teams in the state this season will be Aberdeen Central, Brandon Valley, Mitchell, and Sioux Falls Washington.  Locally Sturgis is a much improved basketball team, very young, but could be good if they are hitting the three.

Which new players do you anticipate on your 2011-2012 roster?

    Jenny Scharn 5'10" guard/post combo

However, we have two juniors that will receive considerably more playing time and expected to contribute great things. Shelby Shorb and Gabby Haefs.
